TITAN Project: NEW SURFACE TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES FOR
A NEXT-GENERATION CIRCULAR COMPONENT INDUSTRY
Resolution: EXP/EC/2023/00291
Flubetech S.L. announces its participation in TITAN project, in conjunction with Finanzauto S.A. and Aciturri Aeroengines. This initiative focuses on the development and implementation of new surface treatment technologies for the remanufacturing of industrial components, aligned with the principles of the circular economy. The TITAN project aims to promote innovative production processes that improve component reuse, reduce industrial waste generation, decrease the use of hazardous and virgin raw materials, and increase product lifespan, thus contributing to improving the environmental footprint of the industrial sector.
The project TITAN is a beneficiary of the call for subsidies to promote the circular economy in the company for the year 2022 of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the Government of Spain within the framework of the Recovery Plan, Transformation and Resilience (PRTR) funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Flubetech S.L. contribution for this project is its expertise in advanced coating technologies, primarily applied to automotive components since it focuses on the remanufacturing of industrial dies and components using nitriding processes combined with PVD coatings. These technologies allow for the replacement of more polluting traditional treatments, such as hard chrome plating, with more sustainable and efficient solutions. This will reduce the environmental impact of producing new parts and the need to use raw materials such as steel and REACH-listed raw materials classified as extremely hazardous, such as chromic acid (Cr6+), by implementing less polluting coating processes like PVD technology. Furthermore, these technologies increase the durability, wear resistance, and reliability of the components, while also facilitating their reuse in new production cycles. The project includes the design and implementation of new production processes, the commissioning of the associated facilities, and the validation of the results obtained, ensuring compliance with the established technical, safety, and sustainability requirements.
